World Ocean Day with Ke Kai Ola
Monday, June 8 | Aloha Cultural Center | 9:00am - 10:00am
World Ocean Day is a global celebration that encourages people to protect our ocean, care for marine life and take action to keep our coastlines healthy for future generations. In honor of this important day, join us for a special educational event with The Marine Mammal Center dispatch team of Ke Kai Ola - Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital.
Learn about the important work being done to protect Hawai‘i's endangered Hawaiian monk seals through rescue stories, safe viewing demonstrations, interactive activities and cultural presentations. This family-friendly event will offer a closer look at how the community can help protect marine mammals and support responsible ocean stewardship.
Activities will include a barbless hook activity, hands-on learning stations, games and giveaways. Attendees will also hear stories from the field and learn what to do when they encounter a monk seal in the wild.
This event is a great opportunity for all ages to connect with conservation work, learn how to safely share the shoreline with Hawaiian monk seals and celebrate the efforts being made to protect one of Hawai‘i's most treasured endangered species.
Free and open to the public. Validated parking available.
