May Day, also known as Lei Day, is celebrated on May 1st in Hawaii. It is a statewide celebration that honors the tradition of making and wearing lei, which are floral garlands significant in Hawaiian culture. Established in 1929, Lei Day features various festivities across the islands, with each island showcasing its unique type of lei.
